 Composition Calcium carbonate 400 g/L.
 Actions Physiological calcium supplement.
 Indications Hypocalcaemia (milk fever) in cattle and sheep.
 Precautions As with any hypertonic solution, pain and swelling may be seen following administration; massage the injection sites to spread the solution for quicker absorption and to reduce the risk of tissue reaction.
Avoid solution contamination; do not allow air to enter the container.
 Withholding Periods Nil.
 Dosage and Administration This product may be administered intravenously. Administration by this route can be hazardous and may lead to sudden heart failure.
Subcutaneous injection. Cattle: 300 to 350 mL. Sheep: 70 mL. Warm solution to body temperature. Snap tip off plug and ensure solution can flow freely. Disinfect injection site and connect needle to administer under the skin of the neck and/or over the ribs, or under the skin of the dewlap for sheep. Gently squeeze the bag to inject the solution. Large volumes should be distributed over more than one injection site. Always maintain cleanliness. Areas may be massaged following injection to allow for quicker absorption of solution and reduce the risk of tissue reaction. Repeat in six hours if complete recovery does not occur, and seek veterinary advice.
